Centro de Estudos Sociais (CES), Associate Laboratory (Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra – Portugal) opens a Junior Researcher position within the project “Assessing the ‘One Country, Two Systems’ Formula: The role of Macau in China's Relations with the EU and the Portuguese Speaking Countries” (PTDC/CPJ-CPO/099797/2008 | FCOMP-01-0124-FEDER-009198), financed by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology.
This project aims to examine how the Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR) has been a case of successful implementation of the formula “one country, two systems”. It focuses on the 1999-2009 period, the first ten years of existence of the Macau SAR after the handover from the Portuguese to the Chinese administration.
The selected Junior Researcher will be based at the Centro de Estudos Sociais, Portugal . He/she will be offered a six-month contract (745 euros per month), starting in August 2010, renewable according to the Statute of Scholarships of the Foundation for Science and Technology and the Rule for Scholarships of Centro de Estudos Sociais.
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Degree in International Relations;
- Previous research experience in similar thematic;
- Availability to travel for fieldwork;
- English native speakers with a good knowledge of Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese);
- Basic knowledge of Portuguese.
